Compliance Hotlines- An Essential Element of Your Compliance Program

May 10

The government has long encouraged health care providers and other regulated industries to implement the use of “hotlines” as an important component of an organization’s internal reporting systems. The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General has been promoting the use of hotlines in their Compliance Program Guidance since 1998. Moreover, in March of 2017, OIG issued the publication “Measuring Compliance Program Effectiveness: A Resource Guide” which further highlights the fact that a hotline is an essential element in a health care provider’s Compliance Program. During this webinar attorney and former federal prosecutor, Paul Weidenfeld, will interview Arul Subramanian, President of www.complianceholtine.com and discuss the benefits of having a compliance hotline and the advantages and disadvantages of implementing a hotline in-house. This webinar is scheduled for 60 minutes with a Q and A session to follow.

Employer Scrutiny and Screening for Current and New Employees and Providers

July 12

In recent years, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) has “ramped-up” its use of administrative exclusion as a sanction. It is therefore imperative that endocrinology practices (and other health care providers participating in Medicare and / or Medicaid) conduct exclusion screening on a monthly basis. In this webinar, attorneys Paul Weidenfeld and Robert W. Liles will discuss the importance of exclusion screening, how to screen and which exact databases must be screened – according to both federal and state regulations, how often and which employees providers must screen, and how providers must document their exclusion screening efforts in order to comply with the law. This webinar is scheduled for 60 minutes with a Q and A session to follow.

Liles and Ashley Morgan will discuss how these statutes work and steps you should be taking to reduce both your personal and practice’s potential liability.
