Alan J. Garber, MD, PhD, FACE Lectureship for the Prevention and Management of the Complications of Diabetes

This lectureship honors Alan J. Garber, MD, PhD, FACE, for his forty years of basic and human research, clinical endocrinology and academic excellence with the Baylor College of Medicine and The Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas. Dr. Garber is a founding member, chairman of multiple task forces and past president of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and former chancellor and current president of the American College of Endocrinology. Dr. Garber’s contributions to the literature include the diagnosis and management of diabetes, clinical practice guidelines for inpatient glycemic control and comprehensive care, all of which have proven to be invaluable resources for internists and endocrinologists. Dr. Garber has made it his life’s work to clinically, academically and personally enrich and enhance the practice of Endocrinology and its role in improving the quality of life for patients suffering from diabetes and its complications.
