Disease State Networks

2019-2020 Description and Charges

Disease State Networks provide pools of experts for AACE to draw upon to serve as physician liaisons, faculty, or program editors for AACE educational programs and authors or reviewers for AACE white papers & guidelines. The Disease State Networks also oversee the AACE endocrine disease centers and incorporates past committees aligned with these disease state networks. AACE members can choose to be included in up to three disease networks based on their areas of interest and expertise, with the understanding that they may be asked to serve as an expert volunteer for AACE in their areas of choice.

Bone and Parathyroid Disease State Network

  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, hypo and hyperparathyroidism, imaging and surgery.  

Diabetes Disease State Network

  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in DM type 1, DM type 2 and diabetes related complications.
  • Oversees the AACE Diabetes Resource Center.

Lipids and CV Health Disease State Network

  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in familial and acquired dyslipidemia, hypertension.
  • Oversees the AACE Lipids Resource Center. NUTRITION AND OBESITY (‘ABCD’) DISEASE STATE NETWORK
  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in healthy nutrition, hospital-based nutrition, obesity, obesity-related complications (metabolic syndrome, NAFL/NASH, etc.), bariatric surgery.
  • Oversees the AACE Obesity Resource Center.

Nutrition and Obesity Disease State Network

  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in healthy nutrition, hospital-based nutrition, obesity, obesity-related complications (metabolic syndrome, NAFL/NASH, etc.), bariatric surgery.

Pituitary, Gonad, Adrenal and Neuroendocrine Disease State Network

  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in reproductive health, PCOS, female/male hypogonadism, transgender, nodules/cancer, surgery.
  • Provide both professional and patient education and information for all physicians and advanced practice providers caring for patients and families with endocrine/metabolic conditions.
  • Develop an AACE Disease Resource Center to enable members to bring information, education and expertise to their local communities.
    • Provide input to the President on selection of Resource Center Working Group members.
    • Solicit, review and evaluate new ideas to determine best fit within existing or new Disease Resource Centers.
    • Develop content in strategy design that is consistent with all Disease Resource Centers.

Thyroid Disease State Network

  • Incorporates past committees and includes interests in hypo and hyperthyroidism, imaging, nodules/cancer, surgery.
  • Oversees the AACE Thyroid Resource Center.
