Thyroid Awareness Month 2005

The AACE 2005 Thyroid Awareness Campaign, entitled “A Healthy Thyroid: You Make the Difference,” enables patients to better partner with their physicians to improve their thyroid health and clinical status.

Did you know that an estimated 27 million Americans are affected by thyroid disease, more than the number of American diagnosed with diabetes and cancer combined? With this in mind, AACE launched its first thyroid awareness campaign in 1995. For the past eleven years, the thyroid awareness campaigns have focused on specific aspects of thyroid disorders. This year’s theme points out that the body is sensitive to even small changes in thyroid hormone levels and the importance of knowing the brand and dose of your thyroid medication. Learn more about your thyroid at the links above.

The American Thyroid Association (ATA) has again joined forces with AACE to spread the word of the importance of good thyroid health. Learn more about the ATA at www.thyroid.org.
