Medicare Benefits for Diabetic Eye Disease and Glaucoma

As part of the continued effort to raise awareness about prevention benefits available through Medicare, the National Eye Institute has the latest reminder card available that can be used as part of practice to remind patients that Medicare covers eye exams to detect diabetic eye disease and glaucoma.  These two diseases often have no symptoms until vision loss occurs, but a dilated eye exam can detect them in the early stages, and early treatment can help prevent vision loss. You may find this and other useful materials available on the National Eye Institute (NEI) Web site by visiting www.nei.nih.gov/medicare.
