REVERSE MEDICARE PAYMENT CUTS FOR OSTEOPOROSIS TESTING!
Contact your members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives and request co-sponsorship of the Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act (S. 2702 / H.R. 4206 ).
Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act:
- Preserves and increases patient access to high quality osteoporosis prevention, diagnosis and treatment by reversing drastic Medicare cuts for these services.
- Restores Medicare payments for dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) used for osteoporosis testing and to monitor treatment to the 2006 payment level.
- Calls for an Institute of Medicine (IOM) study on the effects of reimbursement reductions and recommendations for increasing osteoporosis testing.
AACE members are urged to do the following:
- Contact your two U.S. Senators and ask that they co-sponsor the Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act (S. 2702) introduced by Senator Ken Salazar (D- CO) and Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME).
- Contact your member of the U.S. House of Representatives and request co-sponsorship of the Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act (H.R. 4206) introduced by Representative Shelley Berkley (D-1st-NV); and
