Revisions to Consultation Services Payment Policy
The following article pertains to Change Request (CR) 6740, which alerts providers that effective January 1, 2010, the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) consultation codes (ranges 99241-99245 and 99251-99255) are no longer recognized for Medicare Part B payment. Effective for services furnished on or after January 1, 2010, providers should code a patient evaluation and management visit with E/M codes that represents where the visit occurs and that identify the complexity of the visit performed. Coding & Reimbursement Inquiry Form
For Coding related issues, coding questions and hassle factor inquiries, please click the following Coding and Reimbursement Inquiry Form to submit your request. You will need to fax all supporting documentation, to the AACE Office, regarding your claim. Please note: all patient information submitted to the AACE office must be in compliance with HIPAA regulations, therefore it is important to eliminate the patients name, social security number and/or other identifying information prior to submitting claims to the office for review. Due to the abundance of these requests, responses can take up to 7 to 10 business days, following the initial receipt of this request.
